Barbara Mooney’s philosophy about teaching is simple. Education begins with  connections.  A culture of care is the foundation of a successful school.  Care also brings accountability, as educators we have the responsibility to establish an environment where learning thrives for our children and ourselves.  The main ingredient missing today is connection…with kids, with colleagues, and the community.  Barbara believes the research is clear, when students and teachers know you value them as a human beings, not just a number, they will ignite with positive energy to open their mind to learning.

Barbara believes teachers and leaders need to be given research based, proven, practical behavioral strategies and applications that can start immediately – without throwing anything out that is working in their classroom. Barbara believes educators and Principals have the toughest jobs in America as they are asked every day to wear many different hats – mom, dad, nurse, counselor, teacher, advisor, judge, jury, lawyer – just to name a few.

Barbara understands that students come into our classrooms and schools with unique and individual needs with diverse cognitive abilities, assets and experiences.  Sometimes the only thing students have in common is their age!  The “one size fits all” approach does not work anymore.

Barbara is dedicated to helping educators be successful through motivation, inspiration, humor and a common-sense approach to their important role.  Most importantly, she supplies educators with proven and practical strategies that save time. 

Barbara was fortunate to grow up in a family of 5, where education and community were the mission of family and friends.  Her parents were very active volunteers in her schools including directing school plays and assisting administration with fundraising and events.  It is no wonder Barbara feels right at home mentoring school leaders and educators to amplify positive experiences in classrooms and beyond.
